Meet the Family Behind Worldly Tribe
Marty, Vanessa, Louie & Leo 🌴💻🌏
About Us: We’re a Dutch-Australian family who left our home in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
We’re currently on our biggest adventure yet, travelling Southeast Asia.
Between us, we’ve travelled to 35 countries together. We’ve slept in beachside tree huts in Cambodia, camped under the stars in Hawaii, and spent nearly a year in the wild beauty of New Zealand’s Milford Sound. Travel has never just been a hobby for us, it’s how we’ve always chosen to live.

Why Worldly Tribe began
G’day, I’m Vanessa,
A Queenslander who’s called Europe home for well over a decade. My husband Marty is Dutch, works remotely for a global company with teammates scattered from Portugal to Brazil, and has the kind of flexibility most people only dream about. We’ve built a life that was always pointing in this direction.
When Louie arrived, and then Leo, we didn’t stop wanting to explore.
We just started asking different questions.
What if the school calendar didn’t have to dictate how we live?
What if Louie’s classroom had no walls? What if Leo grew up knowing that the world was just… normal?
We’ve spent years wondering what those answers might look like.
In August 2026, we finally stopped wondering and packed up our life in Utrecht. We left with two kids, no return ticket and a rough plan to travel through Southeast Asia.
Now we’re finding out what happens when the world becomes home, and sharing what we learn along the way.

What we’re building here
Worldly Tribe is the resource hub we wished we’d had when we first started asking, is this actually possible for a family like ours?
We’re here to help families work out the practical stuff: where to go, how to live, learn and work on the road, and how to make it all actually work with kids.
You’ll find honest destination guides, education and worldschooling resources, visas and legal information, budgeting, accommodation, remote work and a growing directory of people, places and programmes worth knowing about.
We’re figuring it out too. So we’re sharing what we learn along the way: the useful stuff, the mistakes, and the things we wish someone had told us sooner.

So here we are, figuring it out one place, one day and one adventure at a time, turning the world into our backyard. 🌍
Come along with us, and connect with other families reimagining what life can look like.
Safe travels,
Vanessa & Marty, Louie (9) & Leo (2) 💛
